Mistakes: 6

*I'm back! Sorry this took so long. I had issues with my laptop. This one might be kind of confusing, so... here. Also, I have another story I'm thinking of putting up here. It's called Please Don't Go. I think it's one of my bests. Anyway, here's the story. Enjoyyy.*

"Justin?"
"Yeah?"
"Do I have to go to school today?"
He laughs. "Yes, yes you do."
"Poo." I plop down on the couch. I'm already dressed, but I was hoping Justin would let me stay home. He's been taking care of me for the past few days since I've been so sick.
He brings me a glass of juice. "Besides, I'm coming to school today."
I can feel the smile spread across my face. "You are?!"
"Yep."
"Great! And you have every class with me, right?"
He pauses, then walks into the kitchen. "Do you want any bacon?"
"No thanks. But you totally just avoided my question. Do we have every class together?"
"Are you sure? It's Canadian bacon, and I know how much you like Canadian stuff." He winks.
"Justin! Do we have every class together or not?!"
Justin sighs. "Well, you see... No."
"What?!"
"I'm sorry. I tried. But they said I can't have special treatment. I'm just a student again. Except for leaving early sometimes for recordings, photo shoots, interveiws, stuff like that."
My shoulders sink. "Oh."
"But I do have some classes with you, and then there's always lunch."
"You're right, I guess."
"You guess? I'm always right."
"Whatever Justin. Get over yourself." I smile at him so he knows I'm kidding.

I slam my locker and turn around to go to class. I'm about to walk away when Alex slides in front of me, backing me against my locker.
He smiles. "Hey Nicolette."
I try moving away, but he blocks me with his arm. "Oh, uhm, hi Alex."
"How've you been? You haven't been at school."
"Yeah, I had food poisoning. They said it was something I drank," I say, hoping he'll take the hint. Even though it was really shellfish.
"Aw, that's too bad. Well, maybe I can make you feel better..." He starts moving toward me, and I move away from him as much as I can.
"Alex, stop."
"Come on, Nikki, you know you wanna kiss me." He gets closer.
"No, Alex, stop it!"
Right as Alex is about to kiss me, I hear someone clear their throat a little behind him. "Is there a problem?"
Alex spins around, face to face with Justin. "Do you mind?"
Justin nods. "Yeah, I do." He grabs my hand and pulls me away from Alex and to his side. "Stay away from my girlfriend." He puts his arm around my waist.
Alex gets in Justin's face. "And if I don't? What are you gonna do about it, Beaver? Sic your bodyguard on me?"
"I will personally kill you."
I know Justin means it, and it scares me. I give him a look. "Justin..."
"I'm not scared of you." Alex laughs in Justin's face.
"You should be."
I tug on Justin's arm. "Justin. It's your first day back in over a year. Don't be stupid. You'll get in trouble."
He nods. "Let's go, Nic." He takes my hand and starts to walk away.
Alex grabs my arm, jerking me backward, and shoves me against the lockers. He smirks at Justin, then kisses me. I push at him, trying to get him away from me. I can sense Justin's anger. Then, all of a sudden, Alex is gone, and he and Justin are fighting.
I'm frozen. Justin's strong; he works out a lot. But Alex might be stronger. They're just hitting each other, and there's blood, and it's horrible. I need to do something.
"Stop! Stop it! BOYS! STOP IT RIGHT NOW!" I pull Justin off of Alex, or maybe it's Alex off of Justin, and step in between them. "Boys! Stop it RIGHT NOW."
They glare at each other, and Alex storms away. Justin starts to walk away. "Justin."
He stops, then slowly turns to look at me.
"Come with me. Now." I grab his hand and pull him to the girls' bathroom.
"Wait, this is the girls' room! I can't go in here!"
"Oh shut up." I drag him inside and over to a sink. I wet a paper towel and carefully dab at his lip. I feel so bad for him. "Oh, baby, your lip..."
"It's fine."
"It's bleeding."
"It's fine."
I wipe away the last of the blood and give him a light kiss. "Feel better, babe."
We walk out of the bathroom and go to our seperate classes. I'm in a better mood since I broke up the fight, but then I remember. It's Thursday, and I still have seven hours of school to go for today. Great.

I flop onto my bed and grab my phone. Let's see... only a week of school left. I can survive this.
Justin walks in my room. "Hey."
I ignore him.
"Nic?"
Nothing.
"Nicolette?"
Finally, I sit up. "What do you want?"
He pauses. "Are you mad at me or something?"
"Yes Justin, I am a little mad."
"Why?"
"Because of today! Justin, you can't just beat people up. It's not right. You'll get in trouble. You can't get in fights anymore."
"Alex was kissing you!"
"I understand that today was different, but you need to work on that. Today was your first day back at school. First day. And you got in a fight. You think that's okay? The teachers already don't care for you since you're famous. This is just gonna make them not like you more."
Justin doesn't say anything. I hate fighting with Justin, and he hates fighting with me.
"Justin, I'm sorry. But I've just been thinking about that and... you know."
"I know. It's okay."
"Justin? You seem more upset than you should be about this. What's wrong?"
"What? Oh, nothing. It's fine. I just... lost my favorite shirt."
"Are you sure?"
"Positive. Okay. I'm gonna go eat something." He leaves the room and walks downstairs.
Weird, I think. I get up and follow him. He's in the kitchen talking on the phone. I hide and listen.
"Mom!" he's saying. "Mom, I can't just leave! I just got here! I don't care what Sooter wants!" He pauses for a few moments. "I don't care, mom. I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying right here. No, listen, I- MOM!" He sighs. "Mom, if I leave now, my relationship with Nicolette is going to fall apart. I have to stay here, or we have absolutely no chance." His voice sounds tight, as if he might cry. "I need her, mom. I love her. More than anything." Justin pauses again. "I know. But doesn't he understand? Can't you tell him? Well why? He can't be that stubborn." Pause. "Oh." Pause. "I understand. I'll talk to her. Okay. Love you too. Bye." He hangs up and sighs, leaning against the counter. He puts his head down. I can tell he's about to cry.
I wait awhile, then walk into the kitchen. "Justin? Are you okay?"
Justin spins around and rubs his eye quickly. "What? Yeah, I'm fine."
"Are you sure? You don't look fine. Is there anything I can do?"
He looks in my eyes. "I love you. And you love me, right?"
I nod. "Of course I love you."
"And you know for sure that I love you?"
"Yes, Justin, I know that you love me."
"Never forget that. No matter what. I'll always love you."
I nod again. "Okay."
Then he walks past me and leaves.
