"Come on, Cassidy, get up!" I shake Cassidy awake.
She yawns, then glares at me. "I was asleep."
"Yeah, I could tell. Now get up! We're in Texas." Tonight is my twelfe concert. I offered to take Cassidy home, but she said she wanted to stay on tour.
"Finally! I've been looking forward to Houston." She smiles. "Now get out so I can get dressed!" Laughing, she shoves me out the door.
I laugh and shake my head, then go sit on the couch. I'm still smiling. Christian looks at me funny.
"Dude. Are you dating her or something?"
"No, why?"
"You guys sure act like you're dating."
"No we don't."
"Whatever. But you'd better stop acting like that with her, or Caitlin'll be really pissed."
I sigh. "I know. But I really like her."
"Awww, thank you!" Caitlin glares at me as she enters. "She's a skank. You should be with me."
I cross my arms. "She is not a skank. She's beautiful and don't you ever call her that. You're just jealous."
"Yes, I'm jealous of an ugly slut who isn't going to achieve anything in her life." Caitlin laughs and rolls her eyes, sipping a glass of orange juice.
"Yeah, you're one to talk," Cassidy says as she struts in the room. She's wearing light blue denim short-shorts, a light pink plaid button down shirt that's rolled up to her elbows with a white tank top underneath, and brown suede cowboy boots. Her long blonde hair is pulled back in two pigtails and she's got on a white cowboy hat. She smiles and sits down in between me and Christian, almost in my lap. I grin and wrap my arms around her, pulling her onto my lap. She's not facing me, though, she's facing the room, much to my dismay.
"Shut up, bitch," spits Caitlin.
"Caitin! Watch it!" Christian says.
"Bite me." She grabs her phone and gets off the bus. Probably gonna go pout, I think.
Cassidy rolls her eyes and laughs. "What's up her butt?"
Christian and I both laugh. "No idea."
"Justin, we have a problem."
I turn and see Jessica Jarrel standing before me, looking sick. "What's wrong, Jess?"
"I'm gonna... I'm gonna..." Then she turns and throws up into a trash can.
"Oh my gosh, Jessica!" I hold back her hair as she contiues to throw up. "MOM!"
Mom comes running over. "What's- Oh my gosh!" She rushes over and hands Jessica some water. "Come with me, Jessica, you need to lie down." She leads Jessica away, and then Scooter calls me over.
"You wanna just have Sean be your opening act?"
I shake my head. "No way. We need more than that." I think for a second. "Wait. What about Cassidy?"
He looks skeptical. "Cassidy? As your opening act? No way, Justin. She doesn't have training-"
"She's good. No, scratch that, she's great. Come on, Scooter, trust me with this."
"Fine. Go get her. She's on in-" He checks his watch. "Fourteen minutes."
I nod, and run off. Cassidy's chilling with Christian in the green room watching t.v. "Cassidy. Come here."
"Yeah?" She gets up and walks over.
"You're gonna be my opening act."
"What?! No! No way! I can't get up there and sing in front of all those people!"
"Please, Cass! You can just do songs you know or whatever. And then you'll sing Overboard with me. Please. Just ten songs."
She sighs, and thinks about it. "Fine. Whatever."
"YES! Now go get dressed!" I shove her into Jessica's dressing room and she emerges about a minute later wearing white skinny jeans, a flowy purple tank top, and gold high heels. Her hair is straight and sleek, and she looks absolutely amazing. "Oh my gosh."
"What?"
I shake my head. "Nothing. You look great. Now come on, you're on in eight minutes."
She nods, looking nervous. She makes a list of songs she's gonna sing, and then it's time. She stands by the ramp, ready to go up. Ryan Good runs out on stage.
"Hey everybody! Slight change of plans. Jessica Jarrel is sick, so we have another singer for you! Her name's Cassidy King, and this is her first time performing! So let's give a warm welcome to CASSIDY!"
Cassidy takes a deep breath. "Give me the mic," she says. I hand her a sparkle-encrusted microphone, and she runs onstage.
