Chapter 19, Alexis

I open my eyes, and sit up. Justin's laying next to me, and his shirt is off. I'm confused for a second, then I remember that I spent the night at his place last night. I notice that I'm wearing one of his t-shirts and a pair of basketball shorts. I glance at the clock; it reads 10:17. I guess we're not going to school today, then. I look back down at Justin. He's still asleep. He's so cute when he's sleeping. "Justin," I whisper, poking his cheek. "Justin, wake up."
He groans, then rolls over. I giggle, and poke him again. Now he sits up. "What?" he whines. "I was sleeping!"
I laugh. "You're dumb."
"I am not. You take that back. Right now."
"Oh yeah? Or what?"
"Or this." He grabs my arms and pulls me towards him. He kisses me roughly, and I go along with it. But then his hands start to wander, and I pull away. He looks at me, confused. "What? What's wrong? Does my breath smell bad?"
I giggle. "No, I'm just-"
"You can't say you're not ready, because we've done it before."
"I'm just tired."
"Oh, okay. You want me to go make breakfast?"
"Justin, it's ten o' clock."
"Oh shit! And it's Tuesday, right? Or is it Wednesday? We gotta get to school!" He jumps up and starts running around, trying to get ready.
"Nah, let's just skip today. Just have a nice day of relaxation." I wink at him.
His eyes widen a little. "Okay! But I'm actually really hungry, so I'm gonna go make a sandwich or something. Be right back." He leaves the room and starts to go downstairs.
"Uhm, Justin?"
"Yeah?" He walks back in the room.
"Did you forget to ask something?"
"Uh, I don't think so." I give him a look. "Oh! Uhm, honey, do you want anything?"
I smile sweetly. "No thanks, I'm fine."
He rolls his eyes. "Whatever." As he walks out of the room again, I hear him mumble, "Chicks."
I laugh. He's such a loser. But he's my loser. I reach over and grab my phone. Twelve texts from Alyssa. What the crap? I check thorugh them. In almost all of them, she's asking where I am, when I'm returning her shoes, or telling me homework assignments. I roll my eyes. Then I come to the last one.
"Party @ christian's," it says. "fri. @ 9." So Christian's having a party. I wouldn't expect it. Just then, Justin walks in. He hands me a glass of apple juice.
"I brought you some apple juice," he says.
"Did you know that Christian's having a party?"
He looks up at me. "What? He's having a party?"
"Yeah, that's what Alyssa said." I show him the text.
"Huh! Whaddaya know, he is having a party." He looks at me. "You wanna go?"
"Sure! I haven't been to a party in awhile."
"Me either. No one's had any this year. Kinda sucks."
"Yep." I don't know what to say, and I can tell he doesn't either. This is the first time we've run out of things to talk about. Or maybe we both just don't want to talk. Before I can think about it any more, Justin grabs my waist and pulls me into a kiss. We lay back on the bed, him on top of me, and the kiss turns into a full out make-out session. Does he want to do anything other than kiss? I wonder. Well, I know he wants to do other stuff, but it seems like we've only kissed all morning. Oh well. It's not like I'm complaining or anything. I need to breath though. I pull away. "Justin..."
"Hmm?" He doesn't really pay attention, just tries to kiss me again.
"Justin..." I don't want to hurt his feelings, but I really don't want to do this. I don't regret what happened last time, but I'm just not sure anymore. "Justin, stop." I try and push him away, but it doesn't work. He's bigger and stronger. He kisses me again. I can tell he really wants to do it. "Justin. I don't want to right now."
He doesn't listen. I'm starting to get upset. "Whatever," he mumbles. He kisses me yet again, more forcefully this time.
"Justin, stop!" I try pushing him off me again. "Get off me! I have to pee!" I just want him to stop. I push him again.
He looks at me, and he looks like he's getting angry. I've only seen Justin really angry a couple of times. The first time we were studying, then in the hospital after the Ryan thing, and last year, when this guy was bugging him a bunch. Justin got really mad and punched the guy, a lot. It wasn't pretty. "What's your problem?" When he says that, I flash back to that first day of school, when he pulled me into the empty hallway. He said the exact same thing then. "Huh? What is it?" He's being mean now, and I don't like it one bit.
"Nothing! Just get off me, I don't want to do this right now!"
"Why not?! You did earlier!"
"Well I just don't want to anymore, okay?!"
"No, not okay! Is this about the Kelsey thing again?! I told you that was nothing! Don't you listen?!"
"Yes, I freaking listen! Do you?!"
"Don't try and turn this around on me! I freaking saved your life last night, and now you're behaving like this?!" He shakes me a little. I'm getting a kind of scared. What if he loses his temper? He woudn't do anything bad, would he?
"That's it! Get off of me NOW! I'm going home!" I try getting off the bed.
"No you're not!" He pushes me back down, then starts to pull his hand back.
No, no, NO! I think. Please don't hit me, I'm pleading in my head. But then he does. He hits me. Hard. I cry out and turn my head, covering my face with my hands. I start to cry, and then I get really mad. I push Justin as hard as I possibly can, and I hurry and get off the bed. He comes over to me and tries to grab my arm. "DON'T TOUCH ME!" I scream at him. "STAY AWAY FROM ME!" I slap him, and my hand leaves a small red mark on his cheek.
"Bitch!" he yells, and pushes me against the wall. He gets closer to me, but I knee him in his area, and he bends over, in pain.
I run to other side of the room and grab my phone, my purse, and my clothes. "I HATE YOU!" I shout. I rip the necklace he gave me last night off my neck and throw it on the ground, then run out.

I'm sitting on Alyssa's couch, sobbing, telling her what happened. She listens patiently, and when I'm done, she sighs.
"Honey, I just don't think Justin would do something like that."
"So you don't believe me?" She has to believe me! I'm telling the truth!
"I didn't say that. I just can't imagine why he'd hit you. He loves you so much."
"Whatever. I hate him. I never want to see him again."
"That's gonna be hard, since you have almost every class with him."
I sigh. "Maybe Kate will let me stay home from school the rest of the week?"
Aly shrugs her shoulders. "Maybe. You wanna stay here for awhile, or go to your house?"
"My house. You wanna come over?"
"Nah, I got algebra homework. I'll come over later though."
"Okay. Bye." I walk home. I open the front door, and I can hear Kate talking on the phone. I go into the living room and see her sitting on the couch. She's watching The Real World, and I figure she's talking to her friend Jessica, who's in her Accounting class. "Hey Kate?" I say kinda quietly.
She looks up at me, and holds up one finger, to tell me to hold on. Then she notices that my eyes are puffy, and I see concern in her eyes. "Hey Jess, I'm gonna have to call you back. My little sister needs to talk to me." She hangs up and I go to sit by her on the couch. "What's wrong, Lexi?"
I let out a shaky breath. Kate never liked Justin. I don't want her to be dissapointed in me. "Well, uhm, Justin...he..." I trail off.
She sits up. "What did Justin do?"
I swallow. "He, uhm, hit me."
"He did what?" She looks really mad.
"Kate, don't get mad."
"So you're defending him?! He hit you! That's abuse! We can sue for that. That's it. We're going to sue him."
"No! I don't want to go through a bunch of crap. But I just needed to tell you. I didn't want you to freak out. I already dumped him, of course, and I hit him back, and kneed him, in a certain place."
"I'm proud of you for defending yourself. But don't you think we should take action against him or something?"
I shake my head. "No. I don't want to. It'll just be a waste of time. We won't get anything from it."
"We'll get justice."
"No we won't." I stand up. "I'm gonna go take a nap or something, okay?"
She nods. "Alright."
I grab a bottle of water from the fridge and head upstairs. I lay down on my bed, and fall asleep.

*AN: okay, I'm skipping to Friday, becasue nothing really hapens on the other days. Alexis ignore Justin, he tries to talk to her, beacause he feels bad, but she doesn't want to hear it. And when Justin says "freaking" or "frick" he's supposed to be saying a different word, but I don't like that word. So here we go. Friday.*
"Are you going to Christian's party tonight?" Alyssa leans against the locker next to mine, waiting for me to get my stuff so we can walk home. We went to her locker first.
"I don't know," I say. "Justin's probably going to go, and I don't want to be around him." I put my books in my locker and pull out my bag and my purse. I don't have any homework this weekend, thank goodness.
"Well then we'll just avoid him!" Aly chirps perkily.
I roll my eyes. "I wish it were that easy. He's everywhere!" I close my locker and turn, and I see Justin walking in our direction. "Speak of the devil," I mumble.
"What?" Alyssa turns around and sees him. "Just ignore him."
"Yeah, that was kinda the plan, smart one." He sees me and glares at me. Why is he so mad? I didn't do anything wrong. That was him. "Come on Alyssa, let's go. He's starting to come over here." We start to walk away. Justin runs up behind us and grabs my arm roughly, turning me around.
"I need to talk to you."
"Let go of me."
"Can I talk to you?"
"No. I don't want to talk to you."
"Well I want to talk to you." He tries to pull me down the hall, but I plant my feet to the ground and try my hardest not to let him pull me. He turns back to me. "Come on. I want to talk to you in private, not in a big open hallway."
"I think it's best to talk here. That way, if you hit me, there's plenty of witnesses."
"Shut up. I'm not going to hit you. If you're good."
"Excuse me?" I try to pull my arm away, but he tightens his grip. I look to Aly for help, but she's lost in conversation with Christian. Stupid little chipmunk, distracting my friend when I need her.
"You heard me. If you behave, then I won't hit you."
"You don't own me. I'm not your puppy that you can smack with a newspaper every time they do something wrong."
"Yeah, you're my girlfriend who needs to be taught a lesson." He glares at me. "Understand?"
"Yeah, I understand that you're a psycho that needs to stay away from me. Now let go of me!" I push him with my free arm, and I see anger in his eyes after I push him. Uh-oh.
He pushes me hard against the lockers and gets close to my face. "Don't you dare push me, bitch! NOT a wise move!" I try to move away from him, but he grabs my hair and makes me look at him. I cry out in pain, and people around us start to notice that something's going on. I see Christian look up and see what's happening. He looks shocked and horrified. "Did you hear what I said?!" Justin screams in my ear. "Did you freaking hear me?!"
Chrsitian runs over and tries to pull Justin away from me. "Dude! Get away from her! Calm down!"
Justin turns and swings at Christian, and his fist connects with Christian's nose. "Get the frick away from me!" Justin yells at him.
Chrsitian puts his hand to his nose, and when he pulls it back, there's blood on it. Justin swings at Christian again, but he ducks out of the way.
Alyssa runs over to me, but then Justin comes back over to me and pushes Alyssa out of the way, and she falls on the floor. He gets real close to me and kisses me, pressing me against the locker again. I want to push him away, but I'm afraid of what'll happen if I do.
Just then Ryan comes out of nowhere and tackles Justin to the ground, and punches him. Justin tries to punch back, but Ryan hits him again.
"Ryan! Stop hitting him!" I scream.
"He hurt you!" Ryan yells.
"Then just get him away from me! Don't beat him up!"
Ryan pulls Justin up and shoves him against another section of lockers. "You stay away from her! And from every other girl at this school!" He glares at Justin, then walks away.
Alyssa grabs my arm and we run down the hall to an empty classroom. I see Christian following us. We run into the room and I burst into tears and collapse on the floor. I hear Christian run into the room.
"Where is she?!" he says. He sees me laying on the floor and runs over. "Alexis, are you okay? Did he hit you? I didn't see all of it. I'm sorry. I should've been watching! I should've been keeping a better eye on you! I'm so sorry!"
I sniffle and sit up. "It's fine. It's not your fault. I told you her probabaly wouldn't do anything at school. Don't feel bad."
"How can I not feel bad? I should have been protecting you! I'm just glad that Ryan was nearby and saw."
Alyssa looks at us, confused. "What are you guys talking about?"
I sigh. "After Justin hit me at his house, I called Christian and told him, and we decided that he should keep an eye on me so he could step in and help if Justin did anything. But we were talking yesterday and I said that I didn't think he was going to do anything at school, so he didn't need to worry about me. But Justin did do something, and Christian wasn't there."
He inturrupts. "Well, I was there, I just wasn't paying attention. Which I should have been. Anytime Justin's around I should be paying total attention. I'm really really sorry, Alexis."
"Christian, it's fine. It wasn't your fault!" I cover his hand with mine and look at him. I smile. "It wasn't your fault."
He looks back at me. "But I feel responsible for you. You're like my sister. I just want you to be safe."
Aly raises her eyebrows. "When did you two get so close?"
Christian shrugs. "Well, we used to be really really close, a long time ago, but then I started hanging out with Justin a lot, and Alexis said I changed, and she wouldn't hang out with me anymore. But then we started hanging out again recently, and yeah. It's just like back then, only I'm a lot more protective of her."
I laugh. "You're only four months older than me."
He rolls his eyes. "Whatever. My point is, I need to protect you."
I'm about to respond, but Justin walks in the room. Oh, no. Not again, please not again! "GET OUT!" I scream.
"Nope." He comes over to where we're sitting, grabs my arm and pulls me up. He drags me out of the room, and I scream for Alyssa and Christian to help me. Christian runs after us, but Justin picks me up over his shoulder and starts running. He's faster than Chrisitian.
"PUT ME DOWN!" I shout, pounding on his back with my fists. "PUT ME DOWN RIGHT NOW!"
"Oh shut up."
"JUSTIN! PUT HER DOWN RIGHT NOW!" Christian's starting to get closer, but we're already at Justin's car.
He opens the back door and throws me inside, then climbs in the driver's side. I'm about to get out of the car, but he hits a button and locks all the doors. "JUSTIN! UNLOCK THE DOOR! LET ME OUT!"
Christian reaches the car, but he's too late. Justin's starting to drive. Just when I think all hope is lost, that I'm going to be stuck with Justin, Christian jumps onto the back of the truck. "ALEXIS! DON'T LET HIM TOUCH YOU!" he shouts through the window. I nod. I'll do exactly what Christian says. But I don't want Justin to get mad and hurt me...
Oh well. I'll just have to try and be safe. I look up at Justin. He looks annoyed. I think he's going to do something stupid. I need to make sure he doesn't do anything reckless. "Justin? Can we go to Dairy Queen?"
He looks back at me. "Shut up. I don't want to hear you say another word, or you'll be sorry."
"But I just-"
"Did you hear what I just said? Shut up."
I gulp and tears come to my eyes. I look back at Christian. He looks like he wants to rip Justin's head off. Then Justin makes a sharp turn, and Christian almost falls off the back of the truck. "CHRISTIAN!" I shout, without realizing what I'm doing.
Justin grips the steering wheel tight. "SHUT UP!" he screams at me. "I TOLD YOU TO SHUT UP!" I start to cry. Justin turns to look at me, letting go of the sterring wheel. "Stop crying! Stop crying right now or I swear I will smack the living daylights out of you!"
I gasp. "JUSTIN LOOK OUT!" Then I hear glass and metal breaking, and I scream, and everything goes black.
